Week 7

What on this week?

Cultural Festival in Town this Friday - students need to be at school at 9am and they will not be back until 3:30pm.

There is a head lice letter coming home for you to sign and return. This is to help us keep on top this problem and hopefully make life easy for you by as all working together to try and control this problem.

Thank you to all the fantastic Grandparents that joined us on Thursday as part of our Inquiry. The students loved the conversations and it gave them some real authentic insights into how life use to be.

Please remember to return your Kapahaka North Canterbury Cultural Festival notice asap.

Week 6


Week 6 and what a busy week it's going to be!

What's on this week:
  • Tuesday St John's
  • Wednesday Ski day
  • Thursday Tūhura Grandparent Day
  • Friday Sausage Sizzle
If you are going on the Ski Trip payment ids due to Kathryn no later than Monday.

St John's
On Monday and Tuesday Paula Hart from St John will be coming in to run First Aid sessions for our children. Year 1-6 will have the Injury Prevention module and Year 7-8 will have the Responding to an emergency module. The school will cover the cost for these sessions.

Thank you to all the amazing parent helpers that came on our trip to town. It wouldn't have been a success without you! 

Notices:
• Passion projects and the Julia Donaldson TTT are due in two weeks (Friday 31st). 

Grandparents afternoon -As part of our inquiry this term, we are looking at New Zealand history and significant events that have occurred to shape where we are today. We would love to invite the important people in your life from older generations to talk about what life was like for them and how it has changed over time. It would be an authentic opportunity for our students to know what significant events these people were part of or connected to, that shaped them into who they are today. This will be held on Thursday 30th August at 1:30pm. There will be some afternoon tea from 2:15pm.

• Touch rugby sign up sheet is in Tūhrua. More information to come.

School Jerseys: Please make sure your school uniforms are names and check to see if you have any strays.

What's coming up next week:

Monday: ICAS Maths

Tuesday: 
• Trip to town. Thank you to everyone that has offered to be parent help.
• Sexuality Education Information afternoon. It is recommended that Yr 4 parents attend as the programme will run from Yr5-Yr8.

Wednesday: SCHOOL IS CLOSED

Thursday:
• Bee's wax wraps. We are still in need of some parent help for this so please let us know.

Friday: 
Yr 8 Pizza fundraiser. Please order in the library using cash.

Week 3

Kia ora whānau,

It's daffodil month! Which means we will naturally have a bit more colour in our lives to brighten the few days left of winter.

We have had a busy couple of weeks looking at what our passions are and coming up with a questions that we want to find the answer to. There has been a great buzz from this and we're sure you have been hearing about it at home.

NOTICES:

Mini Ball
The first game is on Tuesday 21 August. This competition goes through until September 25. We had a team entered in term 1 and they loved it. Please let either Molly or Dionne know if you are interested by the end of next week.

Ski Day
Please bring your notices back ASAP so we can confirm numbers and costs. The cut-off date is next Tuesday the 7th.

Tūhura & Whakarewa trip into town
We hope you have all received a notice about this trip on Tuesday 14 August. If you have any questions, please come and see us!

ICAS 
For any students sitting the Maths ICAS, which is on the same day as our trip, you will sit this on Monday 13 August.

Sexuality Road
Ray Jacobsen Family Planning Parent Afternoon. Ray will be sharing the outline of the 'Sexuality Road' programme that occurs every year from yr 5 up. It is recommended that yr 4 parents attend so they know what the programme covers.


Change of clothes for the field
The field can now be used only with a change of clothes.

Camp Notice will be coming out next week!

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Tuesday: Cut-off date for Ski day notices
Wednesday: Book week musical, afternoon
Thursday: Subway, please order via KINDO
Friday: Disco 6-8pm. Please complete the code of conduct form that will be sent home today. This needs to be signed by both parent/guardian and child before attending.
