WEEK 5

Kia ora whānau,

WHAT HAS TŪHURA BEEN UP TO?

Kindness TTT: Tūhura has had a big focus on kindness and how we can show this within our team and out on the playground. Alice came up with the idea of making our treaty small so that everyone can have the treaty with them where ever they are.

Cross Country: Thank you so much to the parents that helped out on the day. It wouldn't of be able to happen without your!

THE WEEK AHEAD:

Thursday: Team trip to Silverstream. We will be taking a bus down to the site so there is no transport needed.

Emails: If you need to send us an email, we kindly ask that you cc. us both into it.

Have a lovely weekend!

Molly & Paula

WEEK THREE

Week three is upon us already!
This week is Bullying Free New Zealand week, so we will be doing more activities, like the apple one we did last week, to talk about how are words and action can effect others, even when we don't think so or even if we meant it as a joke.

What's on this week:

  • Pizza on Friday - Year 8 fundraiser
  • John Parsons Parent evening Tuesday 6:30 - 8pm in the MPF (we highly recommend this for all parents to attend)
  • Molly is back on Wednesday
  • Paula is on a PB4L course on Wednesday
  • Tūhura will be having a session with John Parsons on Tuesday
  • PTA Musical Bingo, June. This will be a fun even so get your ticket
  • Cross Country Monday 21 May, please return your permission slip by Monday.
  • Did you get and return your permission slip for the Food Forest Trip for our team
  • Please return your Options form if you can help.
Just want to give a shout out to these students below, who last year took on a job the student council started and then with Jessica Breen driving it took up the challenge of providing litter free lunchboxes for all the junior students. Jessica, Ella, Gemma, Samantha and Evie Arthur did this as part of their going further for our inquiry last year on Gnarly Problems. They hope that the new student council for this year will keep this going and be able to raise enough funds for the rest of the students in all the teams to get a new litter free lunchbox. This group of girls also wrote to the PTA and got some funds from them to support  this project. So also we would like to give a big thank you to the PTA.

Ngā mihi nui,

Paula, Lynley and Emma.

Monday 7 May 2018

What happened today?

Just to let you know we did a team circle time on, 'Bruised and beautiful apples'.
Please chat to your child about what we did and why. It was a great opportunity to revise our Treaty and talk about why what we say can be bruising to others.

I have a saying that "If you can't say something nice you are not thinking hard enough"

Parent Evening:
Please also read the information below about our upcoming Parent evening. John Parsons is a leader in the field of Internet Health and Wellbeing, and this is a must for all parents to hear.

Thursday 3 May 2018

Week 2

Week One has ended with a fun Launch day, have a chat with your child to see what it was about!

What's happening next week:

  • PTA meeting Monday night 6:45-7:45pm
  • Sushi Wednesday order online
Please return your cross country forms asap, and email Paula on p.gray@clarkville.school.nz if you can help on the day.

So far the changes to the morning have worked really well. We are able to give more time to Wordlab and Maths.
Emma has fitted well into our team and has spent the week forming relationships and getting to know the children.

Some of our students have been a bit worried about not having finished some of their Tictactoes last term. We have talked to them about this and these are not a focus for this term, we have a new literacy TTT that was given out yesterday, this will be the only TTT we will have for the first few weeks of this term to give them time to really put more effort into finishing these activities with a higher standard.

If you are wanting to order from the Book Club that came home today, it is best to do this online if possible.

Hope you all have a great weekend :o)
